AstraZeneca’s Sustainable Exhibition Design Wins Again

Discover how AstraZeneca’s award-winning sustainable exhibition design at ASCO 2025 drove engagement, reduced environmental impact, and set a new standard for global event marketing.

Emota’s work with AstraZeneca at ASCO 2025 has won Best Approach to Sustainability at the Campaign Experience Awards 2026.

The Campaign Experience Awards recognise the most creative and effective brand experiences worldwide—spotlighting work that delivers both innovation and measurable impact.

At one of the world’s largest medical congresses, the project tackled a major industry challenge: the environmental cost of temporary exhibition stands. Instead of a one-off build, the team created a modular, reusable exhibition system designed to scale across AstraZeneca’s global congress programme—covering 300+ events over three years.

Why it stood out

  • Reusable, circular exhibition design reducing waste and rebuilds
  • Lower-impact materials and streamlined logistics
  • Digital-first journeys to minimise physical footprint
  • 85% sustainability score under the BOSS framework

Sustainability wasn’t hidden—it was part of the experience, with a dedicated space helping delegates explore both the design approach and AstraZeneca’s wider ambitions.

This was a superb way of showcasing sustainability taking a traditionally resource heavy project and turning it into a sustainable, multi-use, design-led project, which was clearly appreciated by the audience.

Performance without compromise

Sustainable design delivered strong commercial results at ASCO 2025:

  • 18,000+ delegates engaged
  • 41% of attendees visited the stand
  • 87% conversion rate
  • 7+ minute average dwell time

A shift in event design

This recognition reflects a broader move from one-off builds to reusable systems—and from behind-the-scenes sustainability to visible, experience-led storytelling.

For brands at global congresses, sustainable exhibition design is no longer a trade-off. It’s a more effective way to deliver impact at scale.
