Discover how sustainable congress booth design is helping reshape the future of exhibitions.
We’re delighted to share that AstraZeneca’s CVRM (Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism) booth at ERA 2026 has been recognised with the 2026 ERA Sustainability Award.
Presented by the European Renal Association itself, the award recognises exhibitors that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Being recognised by the congress organisers makes this achievement particularly meaningful, highlighting the impact of sustainable thinking not only in booth design and delivery, but across the wider event experience.
Designed and delivered by Emota, the AstraZeneca booth was built around a fully modular, reusable system that prioritised sustainability without compromising creativity, functionality or visitor engagement.
Almost 100% of booth elements were reused, redeployed or recycled across multiple congresses, while innovative low-impact materials, flat-pack paper-based structures, reusable flooring and digital-first content helped significantly reduce waste, transport emissions and overall environmental impact.
ERA 2026 marked the fourth deployment of the booth kit this year alone, demonstrating the long-term value of designing for reuse from the outset and proving that sustainable event experiences can be both impactful and scalable.

Reflecting on the award, Caroline Stott, Global Congress Director at AstraZeneca, said:
“I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude on behalf of myself and all of us within the CVRM team at AstraZeneca.
The team’s understanding of AstraZeneca’s commitment to sustainability and the significance of this award for all of us is truly inspiring. I’m thrilled to share—and I’m sure you’ve already heard—that AstraZeneca was honoured with the 2026 ERA Sustainability Award on Friday. The excitement, pride, and positive energy this has brought to the team has been infectious.
I am truly grateful to the teams judgement, knowledge, and dedication.”
This award reflects a shared commitment to raising the bar for sustainable congress experiences and demonstrates what can be achieved when sustainability is embedded into every stage of the design process.
Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this award-winning experience to life.
