In August 2021, I received my acceptance letter from the University of Brighton to begin a career in Criminology. I had always dreamed of becoming a Criminal Psychologist working in a prison. In January 2022, I realized that it wasn’t for me, and the dream I had imagined was not reality, or something I wanted to pursue. After having months of online lectures from my bed and living in an empty flat (due to my roommates dropping out), I decided to leave. It was an extremely lonely experience – one I will never forget.
I was then left to decide on what to do with my life, which is when I heard about this opportunity. It sounded ideal to me, as I knew I wanted to travel and do something exciting!
As I write this, I’m sitting in the London office after just finishing my first week, and I can safely say that leaving university, not knowing what was ahead of me and pursuing something different, has been a success!
My first rotation is as part of the Delegate Experience team alongside Jess. So far, all I can say is it’s been brilliant, a real eye opener into the events world and what’s to come. As well as opportunities for travel, I’m excited to work throughout the company with the different departments, building and developing my understanding of life in an experiential agency and all the different roles, while soaking up everyone’s experience and knowledge along the way.
